Google is unveiling a new YouTube app which will be available immediately on android phones and will be available soon on iOS. The new app has a very streamlined interface with 3 main pathways: a customizable home page, a subscriptions page and an account page for those who have YouTube Accounts. The update was announced at VidCon the annual online video conference in California. YouTube’s CEO says that they are very focused on improving YouTube’s mobile experience since more than half of their views come from mobile and mobile revenue is increasing 100% each year. The new update will also make it easier for creators to upload and edit videos. The app will also support vertical video playback which apparently is a new video trend popularized by snap chat.
