Google’s services are constantly getting smarter and smarter with every update. They try to make decisions based on current conditions, like traffic when it comes to Google Maps. Well, now, Google Maps will also take another thing into account, time. A new update for Google Maps is rolling out to everyone today which adds a new warning message that appears if you want to go to a location that is about to close. This is the message: “Your destination may be closed by the time you arrive.” followed by the hours it is normally open that day. The warning will tell you that you won’t be able to make it to your desired destination before it closes. Figuring out whether a location is closed or not has always been possible with Google Maps but it was buried in certain menus and apparently not many people look the time to look for it. So, Google decided to implement this small, but very handy tweak to hopefully save people from useless trips. Another new feature is the addition of car rental reservations from Gmail if you search for “my events”.
- Receive a warning when you are about to navigate to a place that is closed at time of arrival.
- Searching for ‘my events’ now also shows car rental reservations from your Gmail, in addition to flights and hotels.
