After AT&T tease last night which hinted at an imminent release of the S6 active, AT&T has finally announced it. Just like the previous active models it has similar specs to the Galaxy S6 while being much more durable. It features Android 5.0.2 along with a Quad HD super AMOLED display, 64bit Exynos 7420 processor, 32GB of storage, 16MP camera and a 5MP front facing camera. It also has a huge 3500mAh battery that supports wireless charging and fast charging.
When it comes to toughness the S6 Active features an IP68 rating against water and dust which means it is able to stay submerged under 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. It also has STD-810G standards for shock resistance. There is also a shortcut button that brings you to the “Activity Zone” that gives you quick access to weather, a stopwatch, a flashlight and S Heath overview.
The S6 Active will be available at AT&T this Friday June 12th in Camo, White, Camo Blue, and Grey. The device will cost 199$ with a two-year contract. It is a really good option for anyone that likes the S6 but just doesn’t think it suits their active lifestyle.
