Google Glass gets Jailbroken!

freeman-glassbrokeJust a few days after Google Glass was released to developers, it has already beenScreen-Shot-2013-04-26-at-6.41.50-PM hacked to give the user full access to its Android Operating system. Jay Freeman, who is a well known iOS and Android developer, announced his success on twitter earlier today, explaining that he had found exploits in Google Glass’s Android Operating system, which would allow the user to remove any restrictions Google may put on Glass, even though it still isn’t clear what restrictions Google may put on the consumer version of Google Glass. Jay Freeman is well known in the Jailbreaking community for creating Cydia, which is pretty much like an App Store for jailbroken devices. It is a place where users can purchase tweaks for their devices. Jay Freeman also confirmed that Glass is running Android 4.0.4 and it also seems to be susceptible to all known exploits for that operating system. It is not yet clear what benefit Jailbreaking Glass may give to users and it it also isn’t clear if these same exploits will work with the consumer version of Google Glass. But Google, unlike Apple, is well know for supporting those who hack their mobile operating system so it is very possible that these exploits will remain. What do you think? If you had Google Glass wound you decide to jailbreak it? Tell me your opinion in the comments below. Also don’t forget to like and comment on this post. 🙂
